The Power of Dwelling on God’s Word During Corona Virus


My dear sister-in-Christ, during this season of Corona virus, we have a wonderful opportunity to live out our faith and trust in the Lord only. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve received several calls and messages from my entrepreneurial friends wondering how I’m doing and whether I’m okay.


I enthusiastically tell them I’m doing great! I have a strong positive perspective on what’s happening in the world. I truly believe that God is working behind the scenes and turning things around for our good. I choose not to give in to fear. I choose to trust and believe that all shall be well.


But I have to admit, two weeks ago, at the very first mention of shelter-in-place, my heart started racing. My mind filled with thoughts of “what-ifs” and I felt myself heading toward panic mode. However, I quickly took hold of my thoughts and decided that I would fill my mind with The Truth above all truth. I decided that I would fill my mind with the living Word of God.


I’ve lived through hopeless situations before and I’ve seen the promises of God come to pass in my life. So I know without a shadow of a doubt that this Corona virus pandemic is no different.


As believers, we cannot dwell on the negativity of the Corona virus. We cannot give priority to listening to negative news over listening to God’s word. Otherwise, we fall prey to the fear tactics of the enemy and become overly stressed and anxious, worrying about what will happen.


I am aware that many are without jobs and many are wondering where their income will come from. Trust me, I’ve been in that place before, I’m not insensitive to what it feels like to wonder what the future holds. I know what it’s like to get to a point where your only choice is to surrender and trust in God alone.


It’s no fun to be in a place of uncertainty for any period. But my sister-in-Christ, we know that in the end, God can ALWAYS be trusted to fulfill the promises He gives us in His Word.


“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11 NKJV)


“God is no mere human! He doesn’t tell lies or change his mind. God always keeps his promises.” (Numbers 23:19 CEV)


Now is the time to walk our talk and believe what God says in His word about our future, security and wellbeing. Now is the time for us to walk by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7)


We are called to trust what God’s word says, not what the stock market says.

We are called to trust what God’s word says, not what the news anchors say.

We are called to trust what God’s word says, not what the economists say.


We must remember that God is not surprised by the Corona virus. He is in charge, He will always be in charge, and He knows how it will all turn out.


“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)


The Apostle Paul tells us exactly what to do if we want to overcome anxiety about our current circumstances:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:6-9 NIV)

And then he reminds us…

“I am convinced that my God will fully satisfy every need you have, for I have seen the abundant riches of glory revealed to me through the Anointed One, Jesus Christ!” (Philippians 4:19 The Passion Translation)


So, during this season of uncertainty in the world, we can be certain that our God is perfecting all that concerns us right now, even now (see Psalm 138:8). If we will just trust in the Lord God Almighty and His promises to us, I believe we will come out of this with our faith stronger than ever before because we will know that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (Ephesians 3:20 NKJV)
