She Writes For Him – The Loss of a Dream (Chapter 10)

I am truly honored and excited to be a contributing author featured in She Writes for Him: Resilient Stories of Faith (Redemption Press).

This powerful collection of beautiful stories is a debut in a series of volumes, which showcases the personal struggles of ordinary women and our noble journeys of God’s healing, redemptive grace.

In this first volume, the goal is to address “hot burner” topics that face the church today and the Christian community. Issues that can’t be ignored and yet need authentic voices to lead the way to healing and restoration with godly truth.

In this volume, we write about topics that are not being openly talked about in the church: abortion, shame, betrayal, depression, anxiety, and loss.

Women secretly deal with these issues every day.

Even though these are deeply personal issues, and in most cases feel too shameful to share openly, we chose to pen our stories for the world to read that they might give hope to women who suffer in silence with the same challenging afflictions.

It is our hope that these women would know they are not alone. We desire for them to know that their Heavenly Father cares deeply about their lives and what they are going through. He cares about how their story will end. As you will see in our stories, our God has a plan, and it’s always for good.

I wrote chapter ten, “The Loss of a Dream,” where I share my story of going through the heartache of divorcing the father of my son and feeling like God let me down. I blamed God for my divorce. Now, almost thirty years later, writing this chapter felt inspiring as it gave me the opportunity to sit and reflect on God’s redeeming love and how He brought me through to a better place.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
