Real Wealth Comes from Doing What You Love
I believe true wealth is living a life you love and having the resources – time, energy and money – to do the things that bring you joy. I also believe that real wealth comes from doing what you love.
Here are 5 of my favorite inspirational quotes on building wealth by doing what you love:
“Every time you make a commitment to your own self-care, self-love and self-respect and then follow through, you build trust in yourself.”
― Miranda J. Barrett, A Woman’s Truth: A Life Truly Worth Living
One of my first money coach trainers was Kendall Summerhawk, a seven-figure business coach. Her expertise is coaching women on their ability to earn what they’re worth while doing what they love. I learned from Kendall that {almost always} a woman’s self-worth is equal to her net-worth and that practicing extreme self-care is key to building wealth as a woman.
“You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.” –Maya Angelou
Angelou’s quote reminds me of a book I read many, many years ago, Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow: Discovering Your Right Livelihood by Marsha Sinetar. This concept of creating financial prosperity by doing what you love was a new one to me when I first read the book. I have since come to know that there is absolutely no better way to live a life you truly love than to get paid doing what makes your heart sing. Then work feels more like play.
“I have always found that my view of success has been iconoclastic: success to me is not about money or status or fame, it’s about finding a livelihood that brings me joy and self-sufficiency and a sense of contributing to the world.” –Anita Roddick
True wealth is not about doing whatever it takes to make a lot of money. It’s about being authentically you and doing what makes your heart sing. Pursue your heart’s desire, do the thing you love and contribute that to the world. Then financial success will find you.
“When we do what we are meant to do, money comes to us, doors open for us, we feel useful, and the work we do feels like play to us.” –Julia Cameron
I believe we are each born with a certain set of gifts and talents. They usually come in the form of doing what we love, and as we hone our skills, they become our gift to the world. For this, we are paid handsomely.
“What’s keeping you from becoming rich? In most cases it is simply a lack of belief. In order to become rich, you must believe that you can do it, and you must take actions necessary to achieve your goals.” –Suze Orman
I think Orman’s quote points to your ability to see yourself as capable of achieving financial success. The mistake is when you believe that it has more to do with your worthiness, rather than your capability, mindset and skill level.
